Shipper Summit brought us to Atlanta last month for two days with some of the shippers we work with most closely. At the Hilton Atlanta, we worked through product training, sat in on focus groups, and talked openly in roundtables about the challenges in front of the industry right now. Chris Caplice and Dean Croke also led a market update, followed by a Q&A with attendees. After hours, we caught up with customers on the rooftop lawn at Hotel Phoenix overlooking Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Monday, then wrapped up Tuesday with tiki drinks at Trader Vic's. Thank you to everyone who joined us and gave us honest feedback. #ShipperSummit #DAT #Freight #SupplyChain

What does it take to put a truck on the road with no one behind the wheel? 🚛 Chris Caplice talks with Michael Wiesinger, COO of Kodiak AI, in part two of our autonomous freight series. 🏜️ Lessons from 35 driverless trucks in the Permian Basin 📡 Navigating without high-definition maps 🛣️ Why long-haul may be autonomy's biggest opportunity 👷 Why autonomy is more likely to augment drivers than replace them Catch the full episode 👉 https://lnkd.in/dDe4dVSs #Freightvine #AutonomousTrucking #Trucking #SupplyChain

Annual RFPs set the foundation, but they can't keep up with a changing market. Rates move, carriers exit, and new lanes appear long before the next cycle opens. Mini-bids are how procurement teams close that gap without reopening the whole network. Four trigger events tell you it's time: 🏗️ Network expansion ⚠️ Distressed or failing carriers 📈 Tight capacity 📉 Soft market conditions Swipe through for what each one looks like and when to act. Which of these has forced your hand most recently? #Freight #Logistics #SupplyChain #Procurement #Shippers

Flatbed trucks are getting harder to find, so what does that mean for rates heading into October?🚛 📈 Spot rates are running 28% above last year 📉 Equipment posts are down 21.4% year over year 📊 The load-to-truck ratio tightened to the firmest reading of any segment With capacity pulling back faster than freight, flatbed rates are holding near the top of their nine-year range. Are you seeing fewer trucks competing for your lanes this fall? See what the data is signaling👀 https://bit.ly/4xUD9sy #Flatbed #FreightMarket #Trucking #DATMarketUpdate

No carrier wants 47 apps on their phone. If you're a broker with your own booking system, that's fine, until you don't have the load your carrier is calling about. That's when they open a load board. If your lane is posted on DAT and it's one they already run, they'll see it and call you first. Add book now functionality or an API connection, and they can grab it at the posted rate without picking up the phone. It's not about replacing the relationship. It's about staying findable so you can keep building it. ️ Chris Jolly of FreightCoach #FreightBrokers #Trucking #LoadBoard #FreightTech #Logistics #DAT

📈 Rates are up year over year, but shrinking capacity is doing the heavy lifting, not stronger demand Spot rates are still running 28-36% above last September, even as week-over-week movement went flat to soft across dry van, reefer, and flatbed. That gap comes from fewer trucks rather than more freight, with equipment posts down 20-26% from a year ago and flatbed's load-to-truck ratio tightening to the firmest reading of any segment this week. Diesel gave carriers some room, easing 19 cents a gallon over the past seven days, though September as a whole is still up 52% over the pre-war baseline. If fewer trucks are what's holding rates up, how much of that cushion can you count on through Q4?

🍎 Apple and pear season is only halfway done, and Pendleton reefer rates are already at four-year highs 📈 Yakima outbound reefer rates are at four-year highs, according to USDA truck-rate data 🌴 Yakima to Miami loads are reaching $12,500 to $13,500 🏙️ Lanes to Boston, New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore are generally running about $9,300 to $11,500 ☀️ Even the shorter haul to Los Angeles is up 90% from last year 🔥 Yakima rates are up anywhere from 18% to 90% year over year, depending on destination The Pendleton market covers the Yakima Valley, one of the nation's major tree-fruit growing regions, and there's still substantial apple and pear volume left to move before the harvest window closes. With rates already historically strong, refrigerated capacity could stay under pressure as the season progresses, especially on long-haul lanes into the East and Southeast. Reefer carriers, are you hauling out of the Yakima Valley this fall? #HotMarketOfTheWeek #ReeferFreight #ProduceSeason #Trucking #FreightMarket #DATFreight
