We move from identifying barriers to building solutions together. Last week, the Los Angeles Regional Consortium (LARC) did just that. LARC was proud to support the inaugural CCC–CSU Nursing Directors Convening, hosted at the California State University, Office of the Chancellor in Long Beach. The convening brought together CSU RN-to-BSN and California Community Colleges ADN Nursing Directors to focus on reducing transfer barriers and creating clearer, more affordable pathways from ADN to BSN. A special thank you to Drs. Elizabeth Riley, PhD and Rehman Attar for their leadership and thoughtful planning, and to the Nursing Directors from CSU campuses and our #19Strong community colleges for their collaboration and commitment to students. LARC Chair and Assistant Vice President Dr. Narineh Makijan, Ed.D. shared an important reminder: “Our learners should not have to navigate the complexities and misalignment within our systems. It is our responsibility to align those systems and create structures that work for our learners and communities.” This need for education and healthcare workforce systems alignment is at the heart of LA County Nursing 2035, led by the vision of Dr. Keith Curry, President and CEO of Compton College, and Dr. Nathan Evans, Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs at the CSU Office of the Chancellor, to advance a more coordinated, equitable, and data-driven regional system that leads to a seamless nursing pathway across our region. LARC is proud to serve as the coordinating backbone organization for this initiative.
