An interesting story in The Wall Street Journal yesterday about companies with the most generous 401(k) packages. The average employer match sits around 4.7% of pay. Only 6% of plans promise 7% or more. But a handful of companies are going far beyond. Here's who's doing what: Costco Wholesale: 4% of pay contributed regardless of employee participation, rising to 9% at 25+ years of tenure, plus a small match. Thousands of hourly workers have crossed $1M. Southwest Airlines: Dollar-for-dollar match up to 9.3% of salary. Boeing: 10% match, plus student-loan matching — pay down a qualified loan and Boeing still contributes to your 401(k). Visa: $2 for every $1, up to 5% of pay (10% total). Mastercard: $1.67 for every $1 on the first 6% (10% total). Altria: 3% match plus profit-sharing, bringing total employer contributions to 13–17%. The Aerospace Corporation.: 3% match plus nonelective contributions reaching 12% for long-tenured staff. Ford Motor Company & General Motors: 10% nonelective contribution for unionized workers, up from 6.4% after 2023 negotiations. Publix Super Markets & Stewart's Shops Corp: ESOP-driven models. Stewart's says 200+ of its cashiers have become millionaires through stock ownership. At Basic Capital we know the 401(k) is a powerful wealth building tool, and it’s exciting to see companies using the structure to build financial security and loyalty within their workforce. 🔗 to WSJ article below

We're hiring across the Operations Team at Basic Capital! We're rebuilding the 401(k) from the ground up, which means ops isn't a back office function here. It's core to the product. Every process you design shapes how real people experience saving for retirement. You'd be building the playbook, not inheriting one. The open roles include: - Senior Operations Associate (Onboardings) - Senior Operations Associate (Customer Success) - Lead Retirement Plan Specialist You're a great fit if you: - Love complex problems and want to own them end to end - Move fast without ever cutting corners on trust - Sweat the details, because people's retirement savings depend on them If this sounds like you (or someone you rate highly), I'd like to hear from you. Please share this with anyone who comes to mind. Links to all three roles in the comments. (And if you're around Tribeca, feel free to stop by the office for a coffee and a chat.)

Heading to Madison next week for the NAPEO Operations Workshop. Two days in a room with the operators who actually run the back office for millions of American workers. If you're going to be there, come find me. Would love to grab a coffee, swap notes, and hear what's working (and what isn't) on the operational side of the PEO business right now, see you in Madison. • There is a lot to celebrate this 4th of July! Not only is it the the 250th Anniversary of the United States, it also marks the launch of an important wealth building tool. Thanks to the leadership of Brad Gerstner, Michael Dell and many others, children now have access to a new, tax-advantaged account to jumpstart their investing journey and own a piece of the American economy. Trump Accounts allow parents, family and friends of children to contribute up-to $5,000 annually that will grow tax free until age 18. Additionally, employers can contribute up to $2,500 annually for eligible employees. Basic Capital is proud to support Trump Accounts and is committing to matching the Government’s seed contribution with an additional $1,000 for our team. We are excited to launch Trump Accounts for Employers, enabling employers to launch Trump Accounts as a benefit in an easy and simple way. The most important factor in building long-term financial security is starting early. Trump Accounts mark an important innovation in making every American an owner of our dynamic economy.
