Today, HRSA announced the approval of 10 drug companies to participate in the 340B Rebate Model Pilot Program beginning Jan. 1, 2027. The approved companies are AbbVie, Amgen, Astellas Pharma US, AstraZeneca, Bristol Meyers Squibb, Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, GlaxoSmithKline, Merck Sharp & Dohme, Pfizer and Teva Pharmaceuticals. “The AHA remains deeply concerned that HHS has chosen to move forward with a 340B Rebate Model Pilot Program despite the overwhelming evidence that it will impose massive new administrative and financial burdens on hospitals that serve America’s most vulnerable patients,” an AHA spokesperson said. https://lnkd.in/e2Uk8DYY #AHAToday

What if a routine pediatric checkup could help shape a child's success in school — and throughout life? Nationwide Children's Hospital Sara Bode, M.D., pediatrician and medical director of School Health Services, and Carneshia Edwards, lead of the Kindergarten Readiness program, share how pediatric providers are using literacy screenings during routine well-child visits to identify developmental needs early, connect families with resources, and improve long-term outcomes. https://lnkd.in/et8ZFBDY

Where's the real value of AI in healthcare? Last week I moderated a panel on just this issue at the Newsweek + Investment Reports AI Health Summit, and the perspectives from hospital and health system leaders made one thing clear: hospitals are uniquely positioned to help lead this shift. Every day, health systems manage millions of data points, from patient records to lab results. Having AI tools assist clinicians in providing high-quality, timely care could be a game changer. As we discuss AI-enabled technologies across healthcare, I'm eager to learn more from leaders across the field. What do you see driving AI investment in healthcare right now?

The U.S. has more than 280 children’s hospitals, including children’s hospital units. For many of these hospitals and units, they’re treating some of the sickest patients in the country, with less than 1% of the pediatric population representing children with medical complexities accounting for nearly 1/3 of pediatric healthcare costs.
