Specify additions to and appropriate modifications of IEEE Std 802.3 to add greater than 1 Gb/s Physical Layer (PHY) specifications and management parameters for media and operating conditions for applications in the automotive environment.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2018 specifies additions and appropriate modifications to add 10 Mb/s Physical Layer (PHY) specifications and management parameters for operation, and associated optional provision of power, over a single balanced pair of conductors.

Define Physical Layer specifications (PHY) and management parameters for the transfer of Ethernet format frames at 400 Gb/s over fewer than 16 pairs of multimode fiber physical media.

This project will implement editorial and technical corrections, refinements, and clarifications to Clause 33, Power over Ethernet over 2 pairs, and related portions of the standard. No new features will be added by this project.

Replace references to the IEC 60950 series of standards (including IEC 60950-1 "Information technology equipment - Safety - Part 1: General requirements") with appropriate references to the IEC 62368 "Audio/video, information and communication technology equipment" series and make appropriate changes to the standard corresponding to the new references.

The scope of this project is to amend IEEE Std 802.3 to add physical layer specifications and management parameters for point-to-multipoint passive optical networks supporting MAC data rates of 25 Gb/s or 50 Gb/s in the downstream direction and 10 Gb/s, 25 Gb/s, or 50 Gb/s in the upstream direction, with distance and split ratios consistent with those defined in IEEE Std 802.3. It also extends the operation of Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (EPON) protocols, such as MultiPoint Control Protocol (MPCP) and Operation Administration and Management (OAM).

The scope of the project defines physical layer specifications and management parameters for symmetric bidirectional 10 Gb/s, 25 Gb/s, and 50 Gb/s operation over single strand of single mode fiber of at least 10 km.

This amendment adds physical layer specifications and management parameters for optical subscriber access supporting point-to-multipoint operations using wavelength division multiplexing over an increased-reach (up to at least 50 km) passive optical network (PON).

Define physical layer specifications and management parameters for the transfer of Ethernet format frames at 50 Gb/s, 200 Gb/s, and 400 Gb/s at reaches greater than 10 km over single-mode fiber. This project is to specify additions to and appropriate modifications of IEEE Std 802.3 to add PHY specifications and Management Parameters for 100 Gb/s and 400 Gb/s Ethernet optical interfaces for reaches up to 10 km based on 100 Gb/s per wavelength optical signaling.

Administratively withdrawn December 2007. This IEEE Standards product is part of the 802 family on LAN/MAN. Methods for conformance testing to satisfy requirements arising from the ISO/IEC 8802- 3 [ANSI/IEEE Std 802.3] standard are defined. The conformance test suite is intended to detect incorrect implementations of the ISO/IEC 8802-3 [ANSI/IEEE Std 802.3] standard. It is comprised of two categories of test groups. The first category relates to basic interconnection testing and the second to capability and behavior testing. The test setups, adapters, and instruments used are described. " The media access control characteristics for the Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision De-tection (CSMA/CD) access method for shared medium local area networks are described. The control charac-teristics for full duplex dedicated channel use are also described. This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2002 as amended by IEEE Std 802.3ae-2002, IEEE Std 802.3af-2003, IEEE Std 802.3aj-2003, and IEEE Std 802.3ak-2004 combines a minimal set of extensions to the IEEE 802.3 Media Access Control (MAC) and MAC Control sublayers with a family of Physical (PHY) Layers. These Physical Layers include optical fiber and voice grade copper cable Physical Medium Dependent sublayers (PMDs) for point-to-point connections in subscriber access networks. This amendment also introduces the concept of Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (EPONs), in which a point to multi-point (P2MP) network topology is implemented with passive optical splitters, along with optical fiber PMDs that support this topology. In addition, a mechanism for network Operations, Administration and Maintenance (OAM) is included to facilitate network operation and troubleshooting. To support these innovations, options for unidirectional transmission of frames are provided for 100BASE-X, 1000BASE-X, 10GBASE-R, 10GBASE-W, and 10GBASE-X.

Superseded by IEEE Std 802.3-2005 IEEE Std 802.3, which addresses the CSMA/CD access method and physical layer specifications will be enhanced through necessary amendments and corrigenda.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2002 as amended by IEEE Std 802.3ae-2002, IEEE Std 802.3af-2003 and IEEE Std 802.3aj-2003 specifies a new physical layer medium dependent sublayer interface for 10Gb/s Etherenet. 10GBASE-CX4 specifies an equipment interconnect based on the 10 Gigabit Attachment Unit Interface (XAUI) for up to 15m of balanced shielded cabling.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2005 specifies a new Physical Coding Sublayer interface and a new Physical Medium Attachment sublayer interface for 10 Gb/s Etherenet. 10GBASE-T specifies a LAN interconnect for up to 100 m of balanced twisted-pair structured cabling systems.

Etherenet local area network operation is specified for selected speeds of operation from 1 Mb/s to 10 Gb/s using a common media access control (MAC) specification, management information base (MIB), and capability for Link Aggregation of multiple physical links into a single logical link. The Carrier Sense Multiple Access with Collision Detection (CSMA/CD) MAC protocol specifies shared medium (half duplex) operation, as well as full duplex operation. Speed specific Media Independent Interfaces (MIIs) allow use of selected physical layer (PHY) interfaces for operation over coxial, twisted pair or fiber optic cables. System considerations for multisegment shared access networks describe the use of Repeaters which are defined for operational speeds up to 1000 Mb/s. Local Area Network (LAN) operation is supported at all speeds. Othere specified capabilities include: various PHY types for access networks, PHYs suitable for metropolitan area network applications, and the provision of power over selected twisted pair PHY types.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2005 includes the new Clause 69 through Clause 74. Clause 69 provides an overview of Ethernet operation over electrical backplanes. Clause 70 through Clause 72 define three new PMDs developed for operation over electrical backplanes. 1000BASE-KX specifies 1 Gb/s serial operation, 10GBASE-KX4 specifies 10 Gb/s 4-lane operation, and 10GBASE-KR specifies 10 Gb/s serial operation. Clause 73 specifies an Auto-Negotiation function for use over electrical backplanes. Finally, Clause 74 specifies an optional forward error correction (FEC) sublayer for 10GBASE-R PHYs for improved link performance.

Amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2005 This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2005 specifies a new PMD, 10GBASE-LRM, for serial, 10 Gb/s operation over up to 220 m of 62.5 ?m and 50 ?m multimode fiber, including installed, FDDI grade multimode fiber

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2005 extends the IEEE 802.3 basic frame format with the addition of an envelope frame to accommodate additional prefixes and suffixes required by higher layer encapsulation protocols such as those defined by IEEE 802.1 (e.g., Provider Bridges, MAC Security), ITU-T or IETF (e.g., MPLS).

This corrigendum clarifies and corrects isolation text including harmonization for both powered and unpowered Medium Dependent Interfaces

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2008 extends Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (EPONs) operation to 10 Gb/s providing both symmetric, 10 Gb/s downstream and upstream, and asymmetric, 10 Gb/s downstream and 1 Gb/s upstream, data rates. It specifies the 10 Gb/s EPON Reconciliation Sublayer, 10GBASE-PR symmetric and 10/1GBASE-PRX Physical Coding Sublayers (PCSs) and Physical Media Attachments (PMAs), and Physical Medium Dependent sublayers (PMDs) that support both symmetric and asymmetric data rates while maintaining complete backward compatibility with already deployed 1 Gb/s.

Corrigendum to IEEE Std 802.3-2005. This corrigendum will correct Equation 55-55. It has been incorporated into the second printing of IEEE Std 802.3an-2006.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2008 specifies changes to several existing physical layers to enable energy-efficient operation of Etherenet. Changes to 10BASE-T include a reduction in transmit voltage requirements. Changes to 100BASE-TX, 1000BASE-T, 10GBASE-T, 1000BASE-KX, 10GBASE-KX4 and 10GBASE-KR include the definition of a Low Power Idle (LPI) mode and mechanisms to communicate and manage the entry and exit into and out of LPI and the operation of this mode. New Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) TLVs are defined for negotiating system level energy-efficiency parameters.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2008 includes changes to IEEE Std 802.3-2008 and adds Clause 80 through Clause 88, Annex 83A through Annex 83C, Annex 85A, and Annex 86A. This amendment includes IEEE 802.3 Media Access Control (MAC) parameters, Physical Layer specifications, and management parameters for the transfer of IEEE 802.3 format frames at 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s.

This amendment includes changes to IEEE Std 802.3-2008 to augment the capabilities of IEEE Std 802.3 with higher power levels and improved power management information.

The Management Information Base (MIB) module specifications for IEEE Std 802.3, also known as Etherenet, are contained in this standard. It includes the Structure of Management Information Version 2 (SMIv2) MIB module specifications formerly produced and published by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), and the Guidelines for the Definition of Managed Objects (GDMO) MIB modules formerly specified within IEEE Std 802.3, as well as extensions resulting from amendments to IEEE Std 802.3. The SMIv2 MIB modules are intended for use with the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), commonly used to manage Etherenet.

The correction to the PAUSE reaction timing delay for the 10GBASE-T port type is addressed in this corrigendum to IEEE Std 802.3-2008.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2008 transfers the IEEE 802.3 Organizationally Specific TLVs, specified in IEEE Std 802.1AB(TM)-2009, Station and Media Access Control Connectivity Discovery, to IEEE Std 802.3.

MAC Control Frame to support IEEE 802.1Q Priority-based Flow Control is defined in this amendment.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3 defines the Time Synchronization Service Interface (TSSI) to indicate when the Start Frame Delimiter (SFD) crosses the generic Medium Independent Interface (xMII), togethere with management objects indicating transmit and receive data delay between the Medium Dependent Interface (MDI) and xMII for the given Physical Layer devices (PHY). Both features are required to support time synchronization protocols, e.g., IEEE Std 802.1AS or IEEE Std 1588-2008.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2008 specifies a new Physical Medium Dependent (PMD) sublayer, 40GBASE-FR, for serial 40Gb/s operation over up to 2 km of single-mode fiber.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3 defines the physical layer specifications and management parameters for EPON operation on point-to-multipoint passive optical networks supporting extended power budget classes of PX30, PX40, PRX40, and PR40 PMDs.

Physical Layer specifications and management parameters for the operation of Ethernet Passive Optical Networks (EPON) Protocol over coaxial media is defined by this amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2015.

100 Gb/s Physical Layer (PHY) specifications and management parameters for operation on electrical backplanes and twinaxial copper cables are added by this amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2012. This amendment also specifies optional Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) for 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s operation over electrical backplanes and copper cables.

Physical Layer specifications and management parameters for 40 Gb/s operation over single-mode fiber (40GBASE-ER4) and for 100 Gb/s operation over multimode fiber (100GBASE-SR4) are added by this amendment. This amendment also specifies a four-lane variant of the 100 Gigabit Attachment Unit Interface (CAUI-4) and optional Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE) for 40 Gb/s and 100 Gb/s operation over fiber optic cables.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2015 specifies additions to and appropriate modifications to add support for interspersing express traffic over a single physical link.

Specifications and management parameters for the provision of power via a single twisted pair to connected Data Terminal Equipment (DTE) with IEEE 802.3 single balanced twisted-pair interfaces are added by this amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2015.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2015 adds point-to-point 1 Gb/s Physical Layer (PHY) specifications and management parameters for operation on a single twisted-pair copper cable in an automotive application.

The 100BASE-T1 Physical Layer (PHY) specifications and management parameters for point-to-point full duplex 100 Mb/s operation over single twisted pair balanced cabling is defined in this amendment. This specification provides fully functional and electrical specifications for the type 100BASE-T1 PHY. This specification also specifies the baseband medium used with 100BASE-T1.

A family of three point-to-point physical layers (PHYs) for 1000 Mb/s operation over duplex plastic optical fiber (POF) and related management parameters are specified by this amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2015.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2015 adds Physical Layer (PHY) specifications and management parameters for 25 Gb/s operation over twinaxial copper cabling (25GBASE-CR and 25GBASE-CR-S), electrical backplanes (25GBASE-KR and 25GBASE-KR-S), and multimode fiber (25GBASE-SR). This amendment also specifies a 25 Gigabit Attachment Unit Interface (25GAUI) and optional Energy Efficient Ethernet (EEE).

Ethernet Media Access Control (MAC) parameters, Physical Layer specifications, and management objects for the transfer of Ethernet format frames at 2.5 Gb/s and 5 Gb/s over balanced twisted-pair transmission media used in structured cabling are defined in this amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2015.

The Management Information Base (MIB) module specifications for IEEE Std 802.3, also known as Ethernet, are contained in this standard. It includes the Structure of Management Information Version 2 (SMIv2) MIB module specifications formerly produced and published by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), and the Guidelines for the Definition of Managed Objects (GDMO) MIB modules formerly specified within IEEE Std 802.3, as well as extensions resulting from amendments to IEEE Std 802.3. The SMIv2 MIB modules are intended for use with the Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP), commonly used to manage Ethernet.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2015 specifies new Physical Coding Sublayer (PCS) interfaces and new Physical Medium Attachment (PMA) sublayer interfaces for 25 Gb/s Ethernet and 40 Gb/s Ethernet. 25GBASE-T and 40GBASE-T specify LAN interconnects for up to 30 m of balanced twisted-pair structured cabling, for 25 Gb/s and 40 Gb/s, respectively.

Clause 116 through Clause 124 and Annex 119A through Annex 120E are added by this amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2015. This amendment includes IEEE 802.3 Media Access Control (MAC) parameters, Physical Layer specifications, and management parameters for the transfer of IEEE 802.3 format frames at 200 Gb/s and 400 Gb/s.

The maximum Powered Device (PD) power available is increased by this amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2018 by utilizing all four pairs in the specified structured wiring plant. This represents a substantial change to the capabilities of Ethernet with standardized power. The power classification information exchanged during negotiation is extended to allow meaningful power management capability. These enhancements solve the problem of higher power and more efficient standardized Power over Ethernet (PoE) delivery systems.

This corrigendum to IEEE Std 802.3-2015 clarifies which lane of the media dependent interface (MDI) of a multi-lane Physical Layer entity (PHY) is used as the timestamping reference point.

This amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2015 adds Physical Layer (PHY) specifications and management parameters for 25 Gb/s operation over single-mode fiber at reaches of at least 10 km (25GBASE-LR) and 40 km (25GBASE-ER).

Clause 131 through Clause 140 and Annex 135A through Annex 136D are added to IEEE Std 802.3-2018 by this amendment to specify IEEE 802.3 Media Access Control (MAC) parameters, Physical Layer specifications, and management parameters for the transfer of IEEE 802.3 format frames at 50 Gb/s, 100 Gb/s, and 200 Gb/s.

Ethernet Media Access Control (MAC) parameters, Physical Layer specifications, and management objects for the serial transfer of Ethernet format frames at 2.5 Gb/s and 5 Gb/s over electrical backplanes are defined in this amendment to IEEE Std 802.3-2018.

This standard defines YANG modules for various Ethernet devices specified in IEEE Std 802.3. This includes half-duplex and full-duplex data terminal equipment (DTE) using eithere Carrier Sense Multiple Access / Collision Detection (CSMA/CD) or Multipoint Control Protocol (MPCP), and Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE).
