First Feature Film of the Global Hit Anime Franchise to Screen as Five-Day Limited Engagement

SAN DIEGO, CA – JULY 20, 2018. Moments ago, during an exclusive interview with IGN, voice actors Christopher R. Sabat and Justin Briner, stars of the “My Hero Academia” series, revealed the theatrical release dates for the eagerly anticipated new film “My Hero Academia: Two Heroes.” Funimation Films can confirm that the official theatrical dates for “My Hero Academia: Two Heroes” are September 25, 26, 27, 29 and October 2, 2018.

This first ever feature film in the “My Hero Academia” franchise from Toho Co. Ltd., will screen in both Japanese (English subtitles) and English dub on separate dates during its five-day run in over 400 theaters across the U.S. and Canada. “My Hero Academia: Two Heroes” will be available in English dub on September 25, 27 and 29 and in the original Japanese (English subtitles) on September 26 and October 2. In support of the new film, Funimation is co-hosting a “My Hero Academia” panel at San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 11:15 a.m. in Panel Room 6A. The panel will feature Kohei Horikoshi, creator of the My Hero Academia manga, alongside English voice actors Justin Briner and Christopher R. Sabat who portray Deku and All Might respectively in the anime series.

Earth’s mightiest Saiyan Goku is set to return to U.S. and Canadian theaters with today’s announcement that Funimation® Films has acquired the theatrical rights to the new Dragon Ball Super movie, entitled “Dragon Ball Super: Broly This is the twentieth film in the Dragon Ball franchise and is based on the story, screenplay and character designs of original creator Akira Toriyama. As part of its distribution agreement with producer Toei Animation and the film’s international distributor Twentieth Century Fox, Funimation also secured the home entertainment, video on demand and broadcast rights to the film. This latest agreement builds on the 22-year long partnership between Toei Animation and Funimation, which has contributed to the global success and pop culture status of the Dragon Ball franchise. “Dragon Ball Super: Broly” is anticipated to release in January 2019. “Tokyo Ghoul: Dark War” Major Update Coming Soon!

LYNNWOOD, WA – July 4 – GameSamba announced today a major update coming to the mobile game “Tokyo Ghoul: Dark War”!

Fans and players will be pleased to find newly added SSR versions of Kaneki, Ayato, and more. There will also be new featured systems including the long awaited real-time player-vs-player (PVP) system! The PVP system will allow players to battle in real-time and cross-server; players will get to pick six heroes before hopping into five rounds of combat with their opponent.

Additionally, a new Funimation button will be added to the game. The Funimation button will make it convenient for fans to stream Tokyo Ghoul online, buy merchandise, and own the show on home video.

“Tokyo Ghoul: Dark War” is an officially licensed game based on the smash hit anime series inspired by Sui Ishida’s dark fantasy manga. It is the first Tokyo Ghoul mobile game in English.

Attack on Titan Season 3 World Premiere Event

Funimation Films will present “Attack on Titan Season 2 Movie: Roar of Awakening” and the “Attack on Titan Season 3” world premiere as a two-night only event, July 10 – 11, 2018, in select U.S. and Canadian theaters.

The “Attack on Titan Season 3” world premiere immediately follows the recap movie with a special presentation of Season 3 Episode 1 of the series. This North American world premiere will be the first ever for the franchise and is a must-see event for U.S. and Canadian fans to experience “Attack on Titan Season 3” nearly two weeks before the series’ scheduled television debut in Japan on July 22.

“Attack on Titan” Mobile Game Announces Official Title

GameSamba has announced today the official title of the “Attack on Titan” mobile game that is currently in development: “Attack on Titan: Assault”. The game is officially licensed by Kodansha and will be available in all major English markets for Android and iOS devices once released.

“Attack on Titan: Assault” will allow players and fans to battle titans on their mobile devices. It will combine elements of an RPG and runner features in order to replicate the fast-paced action of the titan battles from the anime series. Players will need to use careful planning–and quick reactions–to survive. There will also be deeper, persistent elements to the game, including multiplayer features, which will be revealed at a later date.

Based on the manga “Shingeki no Kyojin” by Hajime Isayama originally serialized in the monthly BESSATSU SHONEN magazine published by Kodansha Ltd.

Episodes from Hit Toho Series to Stream Same Day and Date as Japanese Broadcast

Classes are back in session and anime’s favorite super heroes in training have returned to U.A. High School for another exciting season of “My Hero Academia.” Funimation® revealed today that Season 3 of the top-rated series will premiere on Saturday, April 7, 2018. As with last season, the first six episodes of “My Hero Academia” will simultaneously stream on the same day and date as the Japanese TV broadcast – in SimulDub™ on FunimationNow in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, New Zealand and Australia and in subtitled simulcast on Hulu and Crunchyroll. All 25 episodes of “My Hero Academia” Season 3 will stream in SimulDub on FunimationNow and in subtitled simulcast on both Hulu and Crunchyroll.

The movie’s storyline follows after the events of Season 2 (“Free! -Eternal Summer-”) and leading up to Season 3 of the series, which will premiere this summer. “Free! -Take Your Marks-” will be screened in Japanese with English subtitles in select theaters nationwide on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 as a one-night-only event style release with a special pre-show. Synopsis

STRANGE BEASTS V: SHIN BEASTS – Godzilla Art Exhibition

Celebration of August 1^st “SHIN GODZILLA” Home Video Release Will Feature Works from 14 Artists and Special Guest Appearance by Legendary Sci-fi and Fantasy Artist Bob Eggleton

Godzilla, King of the Monsters, is headed to Austin for “Strange Beasts V: Shin Beasts” art show and exhibition at Guzu Gallery – a special “SHIN GODZILLA” inspired edition of the annual event celebrating the film’s North American home video release on August 1. Funimation is sponsoring “Strange Beasts V: Shin Beasts” and its Opening Night Party which will take place on Friday, July 28 from 7:00-10:00 p.m.

Guests will enjoy new and original works of kaiju art from 14 local, national and international artists, including, legendary sci-fi and fantasy artist Bob Eggleton who will also be appearing in-person as a celebrity guest. As part of the opening event, Funimation will be distributing a select number of limited-edition posters of a commissioned Godzilla artwork created by nationally-renowned kaiju artist and Austin-area resident Matt Frank. The art show and exhibition will also feature a special display of Bandai and X-Plus Japanese import Godzilla action figures courtesy of toy distributor Bluefin. Some of these figures will be available for purchase. “Strange Beasts V: Shin Beasts” will be on display from July 28 – August 21, 2017.

Partnerships Include both “Dragon Ball Super” and “Dragon Ball Z” Anime Series

LOS ANGELES, CA – May 16, 2017. Toei Animation Inc. and Funimation® Entertainment announced new and renewed license agreements for the Dragon Ball franchise. These agreements with multiple partners in a variety of merchandise categories encompass both the “Dragon Ball Super” and “Dragon Ball Z” anime series. Dragon Ball is an iconic global brand and has been a pop culture favorite in North America for more than 20 years. “Dragon Ball Super,” the first new storyline from original creator Akira Toriyama in more than 18 years, began airing on January 7, 2017 on North American cable television and garnered more than 1 million viewers for its premiere episode.

This latest round of Dragon Ball licensing agreements follows an earlier series of apparel agreements with Bioworld, Great Eastern Entertainment and JCorp announced by Toei Animation and Funimation at The Collective at Magic in February 2017. Licensed merchandise included in today’s announcement will be available in a variety of retailers across the U.S. and Canada.

Toei Animation and Funimation are actively seeking additional licensing partners including, mass market distributors, for “Dragon Ball Super” themed merchandise in several categories including bags, headwear and bedding and underwear.
