General information

H^EV^EA is a quite complete and fast L^AT_EX to HTML translator. H^EV^EA is written in Objective Caml.

H^EV^EA now outputs “modern” HTML (version 5).

The source distribution (see below) should compile on any Unix platform where Objective Caml version 3.12 or later is installed.

Documentation

Distribution

Current version is 2.29. The distribution contains (HTTP access):

• Full source, including the following README, CHANGES and hevea.sty files.
• User manual, in Postcript, PDF and as a bundle of HTML files.
• For users that insist on producing HTML version 4.01 (transitional), we provide a frozen version (1.99).
• Some older versions of hevea are available here.

Binary ports

• opam  H^EV^EA is available on opam, the OCaml package manager. Once opam is installed, getting hevea is as simple as

  % opam update
  % opam install hevea
  

• Windows (Win32) Philip A. Viton ported H^EV^EA to Windows. His port is available from here.
• Others...   Check for hevea on you package system: no other software has the same name! H^EV^EA have been reported to be present on many Linux systems, and on MacPorts.

License

H^EV^EA can be considered free software by almost everybody. See the LICENSE file. The manual is released under the Free Document Dissemination Licence.

H^EV^EA licensing policy follows the one of Objective Caml. Basically, H^EV^EA is covered by the Q Public License, while parts of the OCaml runtime that are included in the distribution are covered by the GNU Library General Public License. Details are available in the Objective Caml distribution.
