Five Ways to Build Organic Traffic to Your Website

28. September 2013 Posted by Mike Salvaggio

Even before the Internet had dial-up—when business was run on a sundial—business has always been expanding. While the procedures have evolved, the practice remains. If you have something to sell with the skill to connect with the needs of others, you’re already off to a great start regardless of if you’re selling Phone Service or a boxed set of too many Power Ranger DVDs for someone to live with .So before you shout “IT’S MORPHIN’ TIME!” here are some marketing tips to get you more organic traffic

Your website attracts visitors the same way a brick and mortar store.

Whether someone clicks your page via Google listings or curiosity give them a reason to stick around. Shop your own store. Check your website design and development, not just graphics, but titles/descriptions, written contents and action buttons (the “Read More” “Order Now” areas) as well. To measure customer interaction, check the time of duration and the bounce rate of your site.

Create Infographics and Share Them Through Pinterest, Manta, Slideshare, etc.

Artistic yet accessible, an infographic is the sign of the times. It gives you presentation without having to load ambitious applications or iPhone-unfriendly Flash Players. Visuals with your message will not only gauge interest, but with Pinterest and Facebook everyone is so quick to share that your infographic could spread like a Californian wildfire.

Whether you’re detailing SEO, website design, or talking about a giant octopus, If you’ve got a picture to paint, then you have something to be shared.  This is an excellent example of an infographic.

Utilize a lead provider.  Even SEO Companies do it.

SEO Companies generate leads. Plan and simple.  You might be surprised to learn that even SEO Companies also use lead providers such as buyseoleads.com to cut corners in acquiring their own customers. You could always do that for your business provided you have a specialist in your Niche provided you could find a reputable one.  Check the SERPs with your business and the key phrase such as “construction leads” or “florist leads”.  You will be pretty surprised that there is an entire ecosystem around selling leads for your business.  Be careful though, the reputation for lead brokers is shoddy at best.  If an SEO Company uses these tactics, that should be a good enough indicator that you should be too.

Build Links Yourself!

Save some dough, try using these same tactics to build links, establish domain authority and generate traffic/leads.LinkedIn is not just social media: it’s one of the finest weapons in link authority. A LinkedIn page for yourself with a link to your business can shoot your name up in the search rankings by providing a powerful PR9 link.  You may also consider a small business page on Manta.com or using your site as a citation/reference on Wikipedia among other actions for even more link juice.

Optimizing Other Media.

Youtube is another example of a high PR 9 page and it’s very easy to setup.  Open an account with Youtube and add your business link there.  That establishes some pretty high authority with Google and it will be represented on your website with higher search rankings. With tags, shares and relevance your video can build your name as can a website. That’s what Web 2.0 is about.

3 Design and Marketing Tips for Authors

2. September 2013 Posted by Olawale Daniel

You’ve heard the call of social media before, and if you’re a writer it can be hard to answer it. Writers tend to be very personal people, often going lengths of time without sharing much with anyone. Writing almost requires seclusion for concentration sake, to let ideas flow. Yet, it is also a social endeavor.

Besides generating more content, the actual makeup of your page can affect your blog’s visibility. When you’re a self-published writer, you’ll need all of the visibility you can get.

Mobile Optimized Websites

Mobile devices include smartphones and tablets, and with more than half of Americans on one or more of these devices you’ll want to make sure your site looks proper on those screens. Include the CSS “media” query tag in your site’s code. It looks up queries for the user’s device before your page is displayed, adjusting resolution behind the scenes to fit any screen.

Why the focus on mobile? Mobile Internet use is nearing half of the US and European populations. Mobile users are also more likely to take actions, like buy a book or join a mailing list, so their attention will likely lead to more sales for you.

Link to Places People Can Buy Your Book

Instead of the carpet bomb approach of inundating followers with links, work on one page that you update frequently with new locations that people can go to purchase your book. Make sure you also include links to any online retailers, like Amazon, that are selling your book.

Don’t shy away from reviews either. Add the Brand.com reviews widget to your site, giving visitors the chance to leave some feedback on your book with a star rating system. Inputting feedback is fast for users, and administrators have control over what gets published. You can edit feedback and delete posts that are overtly negative to protect your reputation. Use alerts and hashtag searches to find out who is talking about your book. You might find a bit more shelf space by contacting book shops to show them the buzz you’re generating with those searches.

E-books are also becoming extremely popular, so be sure to publish your manuscript in that format. The Apple iBooks service lets others self publish PDF or ePub manuscripts for free, or charge users for manuscripts in the iBooks format.

Location Based Marketing

Any successful author is going to need to grab the attention of the public eye. That means live speaking engagements and book signings. Without a PR team, you’ll need to do much of that work on your own.

A fast fix is to post the address for your live events, using Google Maps, to help mobile users find you. First, look up the venue on Maps and then place an embed code on your “Events” page. Tweet the “Events” page to your audience, with the link to the address, and users will be able to locate you from their smartphones. With Google’s recent addition of Waze, users will also get turn-by-turn directions and real time traffic updates, which is a nice bonus for you.

12 Ways to Scale Your Efforts with Content Promotion to Achieve Maximum Exposure

1. September 2013 Posted by Stacy Carter

Writing a good content for your website is not enough. You need an escalating effort that will help you drive maximum exposure for your content. It takes a lot of investment of your time and effort to research and write a killer content for your business site only to realize that no one even bothers to visit your site. You need strategies to help you uplift the exposure of your content and these 12 easy steps will help guide you through the process.

Step 1 – Do not s.p.a.m your content

Spammed contents rarely get ranked on the search engine. Using keywords for your content is a good SEO strategy however it can hurt your content when it is stuffed with too many keywords that give the search engine the impression that it is a spammed content. Use keywords at a decent keyword density rate of 2% of the number of words of your content and you will do just fine. Use keyword density tools to help you avoid an SEO overkill that can prevent your article from getting enough exposure that it should have.

Step 2 – Search keywords with the lowest competition

In order to boost your content exposure, you need to find keywords that will have a lower competition to make it rank high on search. Searching for the most relevant keyword with a low competition in the search engine is easier when you use the Google Adword Keyword Tool that can give you good leads on which keyword to pursue for your business niche. You can filter the results according to broad, exact or phrase type and by the number of competition, trend and popularity on the web. (more…)

What to do if hacked and how to minimize the risk.

13. July 2013 Posted by Jimmy Sigenstrøm

After been hacked I figure that I’m the perfect candidate to tell what not to do if you don’t wanna be hacked, because I can’t blame anyone but my own lazy ass for the problem.!
So first here’s what not to do.!

What not to do
1: Don’t keep your WordPress version updated at all time
2: Download plugins from other sites that WordPress and other major sites.
3: Allow everybody to create profiles and don’t admin them, it’s a waste of time…
4: Use poor passwords on the blog, ftp and mail..
5: Nevr backup your blog, it’s only for weak..

So what to do
1: Always keep your WordPress updated.
2: Only download plugins from major sites and WordPress.
3: If your blog is open to guest posters, then delete/remove the ones that aren’t used.(better yet have them contact you so that you create the profile.)
4: use good strong passwords this means passwords that contains letters, numbers and specials letters and so on.
5: Setup an automated backup software, that makes backups of the database and files and uploads it to somewhere else i.e. dropbox.

If you follow the todo list, then the fix is fairly easy.

  1. Check Google Webmaster Tools to see which pages Google has spotted with malware and so on..
Then check the urls on this websites: http://aw-snap.info/file-viewer/ to see where the malware has been placed i.e. theme, post and so on.
Because if it’s in a post you need to use the right backup from before you got infected, delete the theme if it’s one of those that is infected.
  2. Check the urls up against these sites also
    http://sitecheck.sucuri.net/scanner/

    http://www.rexswain.com/ - HTTP Viewer
http://urlquery.net/ - Checks among other things your standing on Yandex, SiteAdvisor, Google, Opera and Norton Safe Web
    http://wepawet.cs.ucsb.edu/ - Checks scripts
  3. Change the passwords, delete everything from the web host and start with a fresh WordPress and update it with your clean database backup.

If you don’t have a backup and didn’t do as you should, then you need follow the same steps but you also need to go through all the posts to ensure that there is nothing malware here.
When all that’s done and the blog is clean, resubmit it the networks to get a clean bill of health.!

In blogging world no one is perfect no matter how long you have been into it, though we have pro and newbie bloggers but still no one knows all or does it perfect.

I will be sharing with you in this post, Simple tricks to improve your blog visibilities, the dream of every blogger is to achieve success and become one of the leading blog in the world but i bet you, the road to success is always narrow, is only those who worked hard towards the narrow ways of blogging that reaches their destinations.

Without wasting much of your time i will be sharing some tricks that can help you improve your blog visibilities in so many ways and will help you achieve blogging success, below is the simple tricks that can help you to move your blog to the next level.
blogging tricks

Not promoting other peoples blog

This might sound funny to you but am just trying to tell you the secrete of blogging you might not be aware of, to promote your blog you need to promote your competitors blog and get a lot in return.

Now the question is how to promote your competitors blog and promote your own blog at the same time, below is few ways of promoting your competitors blog and promote you’s as well.

Blog Commenting

Yes you can really promote other peoples blog and promote you’s at the same time, i was reading Google’s webmasters guideline and they specifically Encourages webmasters to concentrate more on their website/blog conversation rate, example a blog without good conversation rate will actually go nowhere but guess what? Blog commenting play a major role when it comes to blog conversation rate.

Blogs with higher conversation rate is likely to rank higher then a blog with great content but low or no conversations, you might be asking how does it help you:

Exposure

When you comment heavily in a blog you will be noticed not only by the visitors but by the blog owner himself and he will also wish to visit your blog to checkout the guy who participate heavily to his blog and probably return the favor, i have seen great bloggers visiting and commenting on my blog do to my participation to their own blog.

Traffic

Am sure you know that commenting in a blog with commentluv enabled will generated not just traffic but targeted traffic to your blog once you have your latest post by the side of your comment.

Back-links

Getting back-links is also one of the reasons to comment in other peoples blog, is no longer a news that blog commenting is one of the best and easy ways to get back-links that will help your blog ranking.

These are the things you will gain when you participate to your competitors blog but note, don’t spam all in the name of building back-links and traffic, keep it clean and real by reading the post first and leaving a good and related comment.

Not subscribing to blog post and comment

Well this is entirely up to you to subscribe to blog post or not but believe me you have a lot to gain when you subscribe to related blogs, as for me i subscribe to both comment and post, now let look at the benefits:

Notice when there is new post

Yes i specifically subscribe to blog post to know when they have new post and i normally rush to be the first to read it and probably leave a comment which might bring traffic to your own blog.

More Knowledge

To gain more knowledge is one of the first reason i subscribe to related blogs, be you pro or newbie blogger you still need to read and learn from other peoples post, what makes me who i am today is because i visit and read a lot of online post just to get ideals and also improve my own writing skills.

All the above tips is what i tried and it worked great, let me know what you think or contribute to the above mentioned tricks.

New rules on guest posting and cleaning up the blog

13. June 2013 Posted by Jimmy Sigenstrøm

Hi All

Cleaning
Many of you have probably noticed the changes on the blog, this was due to the blog getting hacked.!!
But the blog has been cleared by Google and others again, so it’s safe to visit the blog to comment and post guest posts.

So comment and post your hart out.

Guest posts
I’m also opening up for guest posts, but with a change that might affect the number of guest post but I find it necessary in order to get quality posts where the guest poster follows up on the comments.
So from today everyone can get a profile, the can write a guest post.

But..
You can only post one link for free in the author bio, to whatever site you want as long as it’s not a spam site and so on.

I’m hoping that posters that pays fee also are more likely to answer comments, because the rule about the post links getting deleted are still in effect.

The prices are as following.
15$ fee pr. post to cover proofreading, other administrate cost and to ensure following on comments

There is a max on 4 links in any post and bio, so you can have 1 link in the bio and 3 in the post ore all 4 in the post.

THX Nick. ;)

I’m also starting up again and are at this time writing a post on what I did to get the maleware of the blog.!

I need your help with adsense

15. November 2012 Posted by Jimmy Sigenstrøm

Hey all

I need your tips, ideas and know-how on optimizing Adsense, on websites that target’s worldwide users. I have a couple of other websites that target’s users from around the world, but I’m getting gray hair from trying to find the right setup on Adsense.

I of course tried the Danish setup which I’m pretty good at first, which in plain English sucked big time and since then I’v e tried god knows how many different setups but not luck.

So do share your experience with me and all the other users on the blog.!

On another note, I’m cutting down the number of guest posts, not saying that guest post aren’t welcome they are but I will be more selective:!

And are dedicating 1½ hour a day to the blog which means updates to the themes starting with with “Gray and Gold” fixing the no comment bug on pages so that’s out by the end of the week.!!

And btw the Google Pageranks has been updated, check yours at this pagerank checker  and of course share, like and so on.

And W3blog got it’s pagerank 6 back.! YES

PLZ note that this IS NOT request for you to click on the Adsense .!!

Should You Start A Niche or General Blog?

17. October 2012 Posted by John

The question whether to build a niche blog or general blog daunts many. Answer can only be given by considering various factors like monetization, time invested, looking for ROI (Return on Investment) etc. Understanding these factors will provide clear answer regarding whether to choose a niche or general blog.

Investment of Time & Money:

The first factor to consider is whether you have sufficient time to invest. Generally, a single person handles the content. Therefore, it is obvious that sufficient time should be spared. However, you can also hire a writer. Hiring a writer, on the other hand, requires investment of money. Ask yourself whether you have sufficient time and money.

In case, you lack both, then a general blog/site is perfect. General blogs have numerous categories. These numerous categories give flexibility to write on vast areas. Furthermore, content can be funneled through guest bloggers. Depending completely on guest bloggers is not wise, though they provide constant stream of content. Moreover, there is always a need to customize design. Unless a developer, you might want to think about outsourcing web development.

Monetization:

Many wish to earn as affiliates while other through Ads (preferably AdSense). Monetization technique decides whether to choose a niche or general blog. Affiliate sale does better only in niche sites as obviously readers are looking for products related to the niche.

AdSense ad does better with general blog. The Click through Rate of AdSense ads is higher in general sites. Readers of niche site know what they are searching. Therefore, they hardly click on ads (unless it is related to the niche). If you are looking to earn through AdSense then general blog/site will prove beneficial.

Reader Ship and Engagement:

This one is obvious. General blogs have less or no engagement while niche sites engage highly. Readership and engagement may not be of concern to many. However, for those who are looking to advertise their service or product should take care of engagement.

In case you have decided a general blog then you have to understand, that most advertising network do not approve your application (eg: buysellads.com). With Adsense you are safe but if banned then finding another equivalent network is difficult. Therefore, balance your engagement of your readers to be safe.

Traffic:

Personally, I have noticed that general category blogs/sites get high rankings with ease. For instance, they gain 50k Alexa rank within a short time. Later they move a further to 30k (rarely do they touch 15k mark) then again move down to 70k and 90k. Later, again they start their climb until 30k and back to lower rankings. The reason for back and forth motion with ranking is that the site/blog is saturated. No new readers are gained after a period. Moreover, old readers move on the other sites. To conclude there is no loyalty of readers for continuous growth.

With niche sites, constant growth is evident though there may not be instant traffic gain. Readers are loyal and frequently visit the site. In short, readers keep on accruing and therefore there is no major rank retrace. Alexa rank of 1k or less is possible provided the niche is in high demand.

Return on Investment:

With respect to ROI, niche sites are more profitable. Interestingly general sites do not require for much investment. The investment on a single niche site can be compared to four or five general sites. Now, if we look at the ROI between a single niche site and five general blogs then ROI can be said as equal.

Finally, with these factors it is your decision whether to choose a niche or general site.
