UBD Karate Do Bags Bronze

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) contingent which representing Brunei Darussalam at the 15th ASEAN University Games (AUG) recently bags its first medal – the Bronze Medal through the Karate Do event.  The event was held at the Chiangmai North University gymnasium.

According to the UBD Contingent Secretariat Mohd Ali Sabri said” We are happy with this performance and we hope to get more medals in the upcoming games”.

Meanwhile at another venue, the UBD Futsal team lose in three separate matches with Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia. However the team managed to proceed to the semifinal and will face against Thailand on Monday (20 December 2010).

AUG starts officially yesterday.

The 15th ASEAN University Games (AUG) started officially yesterday (Wednesday 15 December 2010). The opening ceremony was held at the Maejo University main stadium, Chiangmai.

 

Meanwhile Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) contingent which represent Brunei Darussalam at the 15th ASEAN University Games (AUG)  will start its action today (Thursday 16 December 2010).  According to Mohd Ali Sabri the Brunei contingent secretariat who supervised the UBD Futsal team said “The Brunei team will face Indonesia team in the first preliminary match. We hope that we can win this match as before this we had trained intensively in Brunei and at Chiangmai”. He also added that the Futsal match will be held at Gymnasium 3, Chiangmai Sport Complex.

 

The Brunei Ping Pong team also will saw its first game today (16 December 2010, Thursday). According to Zalinawati Mohaimin who supervised the Brunei ping pong team said “ The Brunei team will play in three games facing the ping pong teams from Laos, Singapore and Thailand at the Chiangmai University Gymnasium”. She added that before this the team had prepared for the game intensively and they hope for winning the games.

UBD Contingent attend meeting and training

The Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) safely arrived at Chiangmai last Monday. During the event the games the contingent which is supervised by 3 officers will stay at the Phucome Hotel.

 

According to the UBD Contingent secretariat Mohd Ali Sabri bin Hj.Abang in his email said “Yesterday (14 December 2010 Tuesday) the UBD contingent Officers attended two separate meeting and briefings for the games. The meetings are for the Head of Delegation (HOD) while another meeting is regarding the AUSC.”

 

Meanwhile on a separate venue, the UBD futsal team are busy with their intensive AND final training for their first preliminary match where the team will face against Indonesia futsal team.on this upcoming Thursday16 December 2010. While at the Chiangmai University Gymnasium the UBD ping pong team are busy preparing for their upcoming match where the first Ping Pong match will start this upcoming Thursday.

UBD Futsal team receive contribution for AUG

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) contingent who will participating in the 15 ASEAN Universiti Games (AUG) in Chiangmai, Tahiland recently receives contribution in the form of jersey for the UBD futsal team who will participate in the AUG.

The futsal jersey contribution was contributed by the Kah Huat and Brothers workshop. On hand to receive the contribution was the UBD ECA Officer Mohd Ali Sabri bin Hj.Abang who then handed the jerseys to the representatives from the UBD Futsal team.

The UBD Contingent at the 15th AUG at Chiangmai will be represented by 4 officers and 23 athletes who will participating in games such as Futsal, Pencak Silat , Tennis and Karate-Do. The contingent will be at Chiangmai from 15-23 December 2010.

UBD SAS holds dissolution and appointment of UBD SRC members

Today marked the historical event which had been held at the new UBD residential college complex building. The first such remarkable event is the dissolution and appointment of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Student Representative Council (UBD SRC) members. The event was held at the Lecture Theatre at “The Core” building.

Present at the event was the UBD Assistant Vice Chancellor (New Initiatives and Innovation) Associate Porfessor Dr.Azman bin Ahmad, UBD Dean of Students Dk.Dr.Nurolaini binti Pg.Hj.Muhammad Kifli as well as other UBD SAS officers, principal officers and non-academic staffs.

The event followed by the speech from the UBD SRC 2009/2010 president Saufi Wasli and followed by the speech from the UBD SRC 2010/2011 Nuriskandar.

The event then concluded with the presentation of the certificate of appreciation to the UBD SRC 2009/2010 members by the guest of honor and a thanksgiving prayer.

UBD SAS holds interview for new UBD SRC members

Universiti Brunei Darussalam Student Affairs Section (UBD SAS) recently (6 December 2010) holds an interview session for the selected candidates of the Universiti Brunei Darussalam Student Representative Council (UBD SRC) session 2010/2011. The interview took place at the UBD SAS meeting room.

Present at the interview session was senior staffs from UBD SAS who interviewed the candidates.

According to a UBD SAS staffs who is part of the selection said “This process (interview) is first time held for this session and it is part of the long term initiative in testing the student leadership skills or in other words initial leadership skills”.

The dissolution for the UBD SRC session 2009/2010 and the appointment of the UBD SRC session 2010/2011 will take place this Saturday 11 December 2010 at the UBD new residential college complex lecture theatre.

UBD will appoint new Student Leaders.

Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) through its Student Affairs Section recently announced the updates on the selection and installation of the newly elected Student Representative Council for the session 2010/2011. This newly elected students will replaced the current UBD SRC members for the session 2009/2010.

According to the Chief of the UBD SRC election committee Zalina Mohaimin said during a press release held at the UBD SAS Building yesterday said “The selection of this year UBD SRC members are different than the previous selection where the selected candidates had to undergo a special interview where UBD SAS will test their leadership skills during the interview itself”.

The interview for the selected students will be held this upcoming 6 December at the UBD SAS building while the announcement for the successful UBD SRC candidates and installation of the new UBD SRC members will be held respectively on 9 December and 11 December at the UBD Senate Room.

UITM visits UBD SAS

A group of students and staffs from Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) last  16 November 2010 Tuesday paid visit to Universiti Brunei Darussalam Student Affairs Section (UBD SAS). Before they visit UBD SAS, the group also paid visit to other departments and sections in UBD.

During the tour to UBD SAS the group was greeted by the UBD Dean of Students Dk.Dr.Nurolaini bint Pg.Hj.Muhammad Kifli, UBD Deputy dean of Students Dr.Hj.Ramlee bin Hj.Tinkong and other UBD SAS officers. The group the proceed to the UBD SAS meeting room where they were briefed about the organization structure of the UBD SAS,  roles and responsibilities and other general matters about UBD SAS.

The tour concluded with the presentation of token of appreciation to the visitors from UBD SAS and also a group photo session.
