In January 2011, the Guardian Project received a large donation from a private foundation. We will be using this funding to accelerate our development activities, host more hackdays, produce more online how to and guides, and support activists in the field.

We are beginning to work with MobileActive.org on their new SaferMobile initiative. We also currently operate out of their recently opened “Open mLab” in the heart of New York City.

Guardian has collaborated with the Tor Project to bring their software to Android.

We are working with Witness.org on the Secure Smart Cam, a human rights-focused secure camera application for mobile phones.

Avaaz has graciously provided grant funding through our work in support of human rights in Tibet and China.

The Human Rights Center at UC Berkeley uses innovative technologies and scientific methods to investigate war crimes and human rights abuses. Guardian received first prize in their 2009 “Soul of the New Machine” Grant Competition.
