Incredible Hulk, The (Blu-ray) (2008)
Dean M
One IMDB comment describes 2008's The Incredible Hulk as the Hulk film that Hulk fans deserved. Being unfamiliar with the Hulk except through the previous film adaptation and the television series, I can also say that it is a far better introduction to the character than said previous film. Regardless of what one thinks of the film itself, it is presented on a Blu-ray Disc that stands as an excellent example of the format's capabilities. I have never seen this film on any other format, and now I have no intentions to do so.

Race to Witch Mountain (Blu-ray) (2008)

This big budget family movie from Disney lacks, mystery, excitement, suspense and heart - all qualities of the 1970s original. Dwayne Johnson has a likeable screen presence.

The Golden Coach (Carrosse d'or, Le) (1953)

The Golden Coach is an important work in Jean Renoir's career, indicative of his late period directing, and is a fine film, but not necessarily great. Madman Entertainment's specialist label, Directors Suite has again produced a faithful homage to a great director in its DVD production, with this film notable as been the only standalone release of The Golden Coach in any DVD Region.

A Complete History of My Sexual Failures (2008)

Dry British wit moves into the post South Park/Jackass era as a mopey Brit tours the country trying to find out just why women keep dumping him. More a comedy than a documentary, and all the better for it. Presented on an excellent disc to boot.

Big Trouble in Little China (Blu-ray) (1986)

Big Trouble In Little China was not a big hit when originally released twenty-three years ago. It can be argued, with quite a lot of merit, that the audiences and powers that be of the time just did not get it. It could also be argued with somewhat less merit that the quality of the script let the rest of the film down. Regardless of what you may think of this film, however, the disc it is presented on is of such a quality that it makes me very hopeful for the other big Fox film from 1986 I eagerly await on Blu-ray Disc. Highly recommended.

Transformers: The Movie (Blu-ray) (1986)

Brutal and engrossing. Hands down one of the greatest flicks of the 1980s, animated or otherwise, lands on a spectacularly worthy Blu-ray. Eat your heart out Michael Bay, THIS is how to make a Transformers movie.
