Volunteer services

Advosys Consulting gives back to the local community by offering our services free of charge to community organizations.

Generally, we can offer any form of support, especially related to Internet access, security and web services. For example:

Internet education services.

Safe use of the Internet (courses and mentoring).

Introductory-to-advanced Linux courses and mentoring.

Expert assistance selecting products and services

Installation and support of firewalls, content filters, anti-virus, VPNs, etc.

Installation and support of web servers, content management systems, application servers, and databases.

Business analysis to lower operating expenses.

Clean-up of spyware and viruses.

Transitions from proprietary to Open Source software such as Linux and OpenOffice.org.

Other services as required.

Because of the demands on our time, we have to be selective about the organizations we volunteer to help. In generaly, organizations must be:

A registered Canadian charity listed by CCRA.

Located in the Ottawa-Gatineau area

Not a user of abusing marketing practices (see below)

Abusive marketing practices

In accordance with the Boulder Pledge and the guidance we provide to our clients, Advosys Consulting never purchases anything promoted using spam, including solicitations from chartitable organizations.

We extend this policy to other abusive forms of marketing: telemarketing, junk faxes and junk messaging.

Under no circumstances does Advosys Consulting provide any form of support to organizations, charitable or otherwise, that use abusive marketing practices. We blacklist such organizations for a minimum of five years.
