Because when you’re known for: → Thinking ahead → Taking ownership → Suggesting practical fixes → Supporting the team, not blaming it You become dependable. Trusted. Valued. And the truth is, you don’t need to have all the answers. Every meeting with Padma Vibhushan Dr #RAMashelkar, an innovation stalwart and a legend, has always been something to cherish in the past 15+ years - from the time JioGenNext was being incubated. To get his dedicated time discussing diverse topics for over an hour was most memorable. It is incredible to hear his concise words that deliver pertinent and sharp insights on almost anything one brings up. Realizing that he has already dwelt on it previously is a humbling experience. Getting his appreciation and feedback about the concepts of #phygitalresilience and #cyfluence made the past few years' efforts worth it. Finally, to receive from him personally his new book #MoreforLessforMore and discuss in depth the Jio experience captured so brilliantly in the book was simply awesome! A must read for each and every one. A little digging makes one realize that the core #MLM concepts synthesized in the book have been spread by him since 2009 (or earlier)! When Elon Musk acquired Twitter in 2022, Parag Agrawal was removed as CEO without a transition period. Instead of taking another executive role, he quietly started building again. In 2023, he founded the Thinking Machines Lab, an Al infrastructure startup focused on building the underlying technology powering future Al systems, rather than consumer-facing apps. That is the difference between professionals and real leaders. Over the years, I’ve sat across founders, policymakers, CXOs, AI researchers, investors, and startup builders from different parts of the world. And one pattern became impossible to ignore: The leaders who create lasting impact rarely speak to impress. They speak to simplify complexity. That requires a very different kind of intelligence. Because speaking loudly needs confidence. But speaking clearly requires understanding. Modern business culture rewards visibility. Fast opinions. Fast reactions. Fast narratives. But institutions are never built at the speed of reactions. They are built at the speed of thoughtful decisions repeated consistently over time. One thing experience teaches brutally: Every room has intelligent people. Very few have emotionally stable thinkers. And emotional stability is becoming one of the rarest leadership assets in the modern world. Because when markets become uncertain, technology changes rapidly, and pressure increases, people don’t look for the loudest voice. They look for the calmest mind. That calmness changes everything. A calm founder creates rational decisions. Rational decisions create trust. Trust creates strong teams. Strong teams create institutions. That is how compounding works in leadership. Not visibly at first. But permanently over time. I’ve also realized something deeper while observing high-impact leaders: The best founders do not enter rooms trying to prove intelligence. They enter trying to elevate the quality of thinking inside the room. That is real influence. Because intelligence can earn attention. But perspective changes industries. And perspective only comes from experience: Failures nobody saw. Pressure nobody understood. Responsibilities nobody can explain publicly. That is why mature founders often speak differently. Less ego. More observation. Less performance. More substance. Nature follows the same principle. The ocean never explains its depth. The mountain never announces its strength. The sun never asks the world for validation before rising. Yet all three transform life consistently. Real leadership operates similarly. The strongest people in the room are often the ones least obsessed with appearing powerful. Because once someone truly understands power, they stop needing to display it constantly. And perhaps that is the highest evolution of leadership: To build influence without noise. To create clarity without force. To carry depth without performance. Because industries may remember products for years. But they remember perspectives for decades.
