Last night in Osijek, it was full-house, and the audience’s brilliant questions showed just how important this topic is to all of us. A special thank you to The Geek Gathering for the invitation and the fantastic collaboration! 💚 Andrijana Horvat (HIDROCIBALAE) opened the evening with a talk on the applications and limitations of AI in marine geophysical data processing. Through examples of object detection, she showed us that successful automation does not rely on artificial intelligence alone, but on intelligently combining AI tools, conventional methods and, most importantly, human expertise. The talk was followed by a panel on Agentic AI, Software Engineering and the Future of Work. Our panelists – Borna Matijanić (Netgen), Slaven Stražanac (Gideon) and Miroslav Rožić PhD (Protostar Labs), Tihomira Klobučar (Orqa FPV) – shared invaluable insights from their work and experience leading teams: 💡 Critical thinking, curiosity and accountability are the foundations of engineering work in the future. AI itself is not the problem; in fact, many mistakes we see in practice today come not from the tool itself, but from a “wrong requirement implemented correctly.” 💡 Reading code is becoming more important than writing it. In this new reality, we need to learn how to read and understand code better than we write it ourselves. Instead of blindly following tutorials, one of the best ways to learn is to identify a real problem and work out how to solve it independently. 💡 Soft skills and human connection have no substitute. Technology keeps advancing, but communication and a willingness to learn are what make the difference. Employers will always be more likely to choose someone who may know a little less but communicates, learns from mistakes and is open to collaboration over someone who isolates themselves and responds to a team-building plan with, “Is this mandatory?” 💡 Resilience matters. In a world where expectations and the race for productivity keep growing, resilience and taking care of people should remain a top priority. Thank you once again to everyone who joined us, asked great questions and made it such a fantastic evening in Osijek! #croai #thegeekgathering
