🗞️ Microsoft and French frontier AI provider Mistral have signed a new multibillion-dollar agreement to expand AI infrastructure in Europe. Mistral plans to grow its Europe-based compute capacity with thousands of NVIDIA Vera Rubin GPUs, while Microsoft will use part of that infrastructure to support growing demand for Cloud and AI services. The agreement also offers more ways for client companies to deploy Mistral’s AI models, from public Cloud environments to on-prem infrastructure and fully-isolated systems. For Cloud providers, MSPs and enterprise IT leaders who have been paying attention to the big picture, one aspect of this story probably popped out to you right away: Europe wants access to frontier AI while maintaining control over where and how critical systems operate and data is stored, but is partnering with a non-European hyperscaler to build capacity.
