Doug Ford, Mark Carney and one hundred of the Prime Minister's closest asset manager buddies are meeting in Toronto in September for an "investment summit." But what they are really planning is a privatization bonanza. On the menu? Airports. Toll highways. Water and power plants. Housing. Indigenous lands. Oil and mineral deposits. Tax breaks. Military contracts. In response, a broad coalition of organizations is hosting a "Many versus the Money" counter-summit and protest. Convened by the the Council of Canadians, 8th Fire Rising and World BEYOND War, the “Many versus the Money” counter-summit at OCAD University will feature journalist and author Naomi Klein, U.S. academic and socialist Keeanga Yahmatta Taylor, and many other exciting speakers. The summit will build momentum for protests against the privatization summit on Monday, September 14, which are being organized by a broad coalition of groups. When the CEOs of BlackRock and Blackstone come to town, we'll be out in the streets to greet them.
