  • The Australian Internet Governance Forum (auIGF) has launched the auIGF Next Gen Taskforce — a new pilot initiative bringing together emerging leaders from across Australia’s internet governance community. Following a competitive national selection process, the Taskforce convenes participants from across policy, technology, civil society, media, law and academia. The Taskforce is chaired by Minh Hoang, Policy & Global Partnerships Lead at the Australian Institute for Transformation and AI and a member of Australia’s eSafety Commissioner’s youth advisory group. The Taskforce will explore the evolving concept of Digital Duty of Care, an issue gaining increasing attention within the Australian Government and internationally. Over the coming months, members will examine how governance frameworks, accountability mechanisms and digital product design may need to evolve to better protect users in an increasingly complex online environment. The initiative will culminate in a policy report later this year, with findings to be presented at auIGF 2026. This work sits alongside broader preparations for auIGF 2026, including development of the event theme and Social Contract project, with further details on the Canberra event to be announced in the coming weeks. auIGF continues to provide a multistakeholder platform for collaboration on Australia’s most pressing digital policy issues — connecting national discussions with regional and global Internet Governance Forum processes.
